Bourgeois, Florien Mrs.- - -died Saturday, October 26th at the home of her son, Camille Bourgeois, St. Amant, La. Mrs. Florien Bourgeois, aged 94 years and six months was one of the oldest person in this community and leaves to mourn her loss six children, Alfred of Brignac, Joseph, Louis and Camille, of St. Amant, Mrs. Alphonse Mayer of Plaquemine, and Mrs. Drozen Mayers of St. Amant, 67 grandchildren 172 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. She was a native and lifelong resident of St. Amant, being the daughter of one of the pioneers of East Ascension. She was a devout Catholic, a loving mother and a friend to all. Her passing leaves a gap in the few remaining ones who have seen the wonderful progress made in this parish from the few inhabitants along New River connected by mere trails to one of the most thriving place in Louisiana. Her funeral services were conducted at the St. Amant Catholic Church with Rev. Father Domsdorf officiating, and were largely attended by relatives and friends. Interment was in the local cemetery.
