Catharine Cheney was the daughter of Egbert P. and Adelia Gue and was the first wife of Willis Ludell Cheney.
Mrs. W. L. Cheney died Sunday afternon July 10, 1904 at 1:15 of consumption at her home on east Pearl Street. The remains were taken to Mason this afternoon for burial.
Catherine E Gue was born at Farmington N.Y., April 17, 1858 and came to Hudson Mich., when nine years of age. Later she removed to Mason, where she married July 17, 1883 to W. L. Cheney.
Four years ago she came to Coldwater and during her residence here she has made many friends who will regret to hear of her death. Soon (after) her arrival in Coldwater she united with the Christian Science Society of which she had been a faithful member.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her father, E. P. Gue of Mason and two sisters, Mrs. H. A. Beech of Owosso and Mrs. J. E. Housel of Mason. "Courier Coldwater, July 11"
Funeral services were held at the residence of J. E. Housel on west Maple Street Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock, conducted by mrs. Jackson of Coldwater, a christian scientist with interment in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Headstone marker at cemetery in the Cheney family plot but there were no dates on her stone or the Monument. Her headstone was just to the left of Willis L. and Myra L. headstone.
