Muriel I. Grunerud, age 93, Sartell, MN died Friday, September 11, 2015 at Country Manor Health Care Center, Sartell, MN.
Interment will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.
Muriel was born March 31, 1922 in Kendall, Ontario, Canada to George and Viola (McKay) Morton. She married James A. Grunerud on May 1, 1946 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Muriel worked as a Registered Nurse for 42 years, the last 22 years at the St. Cloud VA Hospital, retiring in December of 1982. She was a member of St. Cloud State University Faculty Wives and Women, NAFE and First Presbyterian Church, St. Cloud, MN.
Muriel was active and enjoyed bowling until after her was 90th birthday. She was a very giving individual, which was evident by providing room and board to three needy college students and paying for another student's education. She also gave to Veterans organizations, medical charities, scholarship funds at SCSU, First Presbyterian Church and numerous animal charities.
Survivors include her son, Terry Grunerud of St. Cloud, MN; two grandsons, Wyatt (Kelly) Grunerud and Dane (Megan Carlson) Grunerud, one great grandson, Max and daughter-in-law, Joan Grunerud of Elk River, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Grunerud on January 13, 2010, brother, Robert Morton, sister, Inez Harris.
