Betty Dawn Growdon Gardner, was taken by angels on August 4, 2013 to be with the Lord. Betty will be re-united with her beloved husband, James Gardner and the "light of her life" her son, Stuart Gardner who proceeded her in death. Her parents, F.L. and Frances Growdon and sister, Jane Spall also preceded her in death. Betty was born in Midland, Texas on July 5, 1938, her parent's wedding anniversary. Betty lived a beautiful life filled with dear friends, a loving family and beautiful flowers. Betty graduated from Clovis High School where she played the flute and clarinet and was a majorette in the band. Betty attended Eastern New Mexico University. As a flight attendant with Continental Airlines, Betty enjoyed traveling the world. Betty resided in Manhatten Beach, California during this career. After her marriage to James Gardner, Betty moved to Dover, New Hampshire, where she was active in her church, volunteer parent associates, and employment at the University of New Hampshire. Betty's home garden was a favorite for summer tours and a "must see" on Christmas light tours. Betty's interest in history led her membership in DAR, Colonial Dames, and the Blair Society. Her ancestor, Lawerence Growdon was an original member and Bucks County property owner with the William Penn Colony, Pennsylvania. Betty is survived by her sisters, Maudene Potts of Ruidoso, NM and Ellyn Phillips of Cheyenne, WY, neices, Sarah Anderson and Kim Potts and nephews, Erik Anderson, David Potts and Christopher Spall. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 2:30 at Sunset Memorial Park, Albuquerque, NM. Memorial gifts may be made to Durham Evangelical Church, in Durham, New Hampshire.
