J.R. Groves, 71, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.R. Linn after an illness of one week.
Mr. Groves was taken with the flu, but he was not thought to be seriously ill until Monday, when he became unconscious, and remained so until the end. Blood clot on the brain caused his death.
Funeral services were held at the Linn Home at Whitney, conducted by Rev. M.B. Hays, pastor of First Baptist church of HIllsboro. Interment was in Ridge Park Cemetery at Hillsboro, the Whitney and Hillsboro Masonic bodies being in charge of the burial rites.
Survivors: four children - Ozro Groves of Poto, OK; Oland Groves of CA; Cliff Groves of Graham; Mrs. W.R. Linn of Whitney. All of the children were at the funeral except the one from California; six brothers - John W. Groves, W.L. Groves, Smith Groves, Joe L. Groves, Henry S. Groves, all of Olney; George F. Groves of Leonard. All of the brothers were at his bedside but W.L. Groves who was unable to attend.
J.B. Groves was a Royal Arch Mason and member of the Baptist church. His wife preceded him in death in 1914 and for several years past he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Linn.
The people of Olney and surrounding country will remember "Uncle Bob" Groves, as he made yearly visits to see his brothers at and near Olney.
