Mary Katherine (Allen) Grounds, was born on November 17, 1915 in Strausburg Colorado and went to be with her Lord and her family on November 26, 2011 in Bandera, Texas. We were blessed to have her in our lives for 96 years during which she was able to experience many wonderful facets of her daughters life. Her love was unconditional for her brothers and sisters as well as for her grand-dog, Vegas. After working for many years as an ICU Nurse at the Nix Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, she was able to move closer to her daughter after her retirement. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jack R. Grounds, four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Tom Crowe of Bandera, Texas; her step-son, Jim Grounds and his wife, Judy of Grandbury, Texas; sister, Attie Kaberline of Topeka, Kansas and sister, Sarah Scales and husband, Gene of Lawrence, Kansas. Mary is also survived by grandchildren, Charlie Grounds and wife, Terri of Grandbury, Texas; Jimmy Grounds of Gainesville, Texas and David Crowe and wife, Lyndsay of The Woodlands, Texas. Mary is also survived by her great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice for their loving care of Mary during her final journey home.
