Wilma C. Allen, 102, died at 5:10 p.m. July 19, 2010, at Lima Convalescent Home.

She was born June 25, 1908, in North Vernon, Ind., to William L. and Ida R. Hartman Grossman. On March 22, 1947, she married Robert A. Allen, who died March 2, 1990.

Mrs. Allen retired as a public music instructor. She worked at North Vernon Public Schools, North Vernon, Ind., for seven years, and near Columbia City, Ind., for two years. She had also been a field director for the American Red Cross in Hawaii for three years. She had been a member of the Women's Society of South Park United Methodist Church, Dayton. She was a graduate of DePauw University, where she was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret (Noel) Negelspach, of Lima; a sister, Pauline Gregory, of Richmond, Ind.; a granddaughter, Molly (Eric) Gullufsen, of Maumee; a great-granddaughter, Iona Rose Gullufsen, of Lima; and three nephews and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Irvin "Bus" (Rose) Grossman; and a brother-in-law, William Gregory.

Private family services will be held at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Dr. Thomas Holmes will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Vernon Cemetery, Vernon, Ind.
