Mrs. Anna Gross, 84, from Lastrup died Sunday at St. Gabriel's Hospital. She was born in Pierz to John and Christina Philippi on April 12, 1889. She married Peter J. Gross in Pierz on May 30, 1911 and lived and farmed in Granite Township. Later they owned and operated the Gross General Store in Lastrup for 40 years, before retiring and selling the buisness to the Welles.
She was a Gold Star Mother, and belonged to the Christian Mothers of St. John's Church, Lastrup.
Her husband preceded her in death in May, 1965. She is survived by two sons, Elmer and James D. Gross, Minneapolis; two daughters, Marceline Gross, Lastrup, and Mrs. Mike (Virginia) Landauer, Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Bednar, St. Cloud; and Mrs. Henry Gau, Pierz; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A son, Sgt. Earl Gross, preceded her in death, along with a brother, John Philippi, and sisters, Catherine Hoffman and Regina Philippi.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Church, Lastrup, with Rev. Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will be at St. John's parish cemetery.
Parish prayers will be prayed Monday evening at 8:30, followed by the Christian Mothers of Lastrup at 9 p.m. Friends may call at the Shelley-Virnig Chapel in Pierz after 3 p.m. Monday.
Arrangements are through the Shelley-Virnig Chapel, Pierz.
