I. Groskreutz Passes Away in Iowa
Irene Groskreutz, 60, of Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of the Wells area passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 24 at the Marshalltown hospital. A daughter of Joseph and Frances Stenzel, she was born in Faribault County, Nov. 11. Educated in Faribault County, she graduated from Wells High School and Mankato State College.
On august 18, 1950, she married Arnold Groskreutz in Nashua, Iowa. She taught in various schools in Iowa and Minnesota, before moving to Marshalltown in 1985.
In Marshalltown, she ran her own Norwegian fold art rosemalling studio. She was a member of Veteraheim in Decorah, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband, Arnold; a son, Jeff of Pemberton; a grandson; a sister, Marian Stenzel of Minneapolis; and two brothers, Edward of Mankato and Nicholas of Wells.
Services were at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Elim Lutheran Church, Marshalltown. A service followed at 3 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Waldorf, with burial in the church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
