Pat Groover Ashmore - HINESVILLE - Pat Groover Ashmore, 67, died Monday November 29, 2010 at Hospice of Savannah after a long illness. Born in Savannah, Georgia on August 24, 1943, Pat was the daughter of the late Glenn and Marjorie Groover and lived in Hinesville all of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class. Pat was employed by Coastal Utilities for many years and later was a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She spoiled everyone from her grandchildren to her beloved pets. Many people knew Pat for her baking skills. She was an avid baker and would whip up a cake or her famous chocolate chip cookies for any kind face. She also enjoyed reading and storytelling. Pat was known for her remarkable sense of humor in her stories, and her kindness showed as she would smile and call everyone "Babe". Pat is survived by her husband Joe Ashmore, nine children; Lynn Downs of Hinesville, Alan (Deanna) Dasher, Gary (Susan) Young, Tracy (Beverly) Young, Tina Young, Tammy Centers, Christa Ashmore, all of Savannah, Bryan (Marsha) Ashmore of Ludowici and Amy (John) Jones of Atlanta, and her sister Barbara (Terry) Wheeler of Hinesville,11 grandchildren; Jenny Dixon of Hinesville, Stefanie Dasher, Leigh Anne Young, Jeffrey Young, Lindsey Goldberg, Martie Gay, Adrienne Buck, Scott Greene, Andrew Greene, Morgan Mannion, and Emily Holliday, all of Savannah, and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation: The family will receive friends Wednesday December 1, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel, 308 West Oglethorpe Blvd (Hwy 84) Hinesville, Georgia. Funeral services will be Thursday December 2, 2010 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Hinesville with the Rev. Dr. Charles Owens officiating. Burial will be in Hinesville Cemetery. Pallbearers: Steve Sladdick, Josh Wheeler, Scott Greene, Andrew Greene, Matt Hill, and Jesse Duncan. Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.
