Peggy Williams Grizzard ,61, passed away August 2, 2014 at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center in Emporia. She was born in Emporia and grew up in Skippers and was a former resident of Courtland. She was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Elizabeth Williams and her husband William Todd Grizzard who passed away July 13, 2014 and her brother Clifton Williams. Peggy had retired as a bookkeeper from the Southampton County Public School System and was a former member of the Boykins Rescue Squad. She was one of the first female EMT instructors in Virginia.

Left to cherish her memory is her son Ken Francis, Jr. of Newsoms, one granddaughter Cameron Francis, a stepdaughter Candice Bryant (Michael) of Courtland, a stepson Billy Grizzard of Drewryville, her mother in law Kathleen Grizzard of Drewryville, two sisters in law Cathy Grizzard of Drewryville and Sue Grizzard of Ivor.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Wright Funeral Home, 206 West 4th Ave., Franklin. Memorial donations may be made to the Boykins Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 347, Boykins, VA 23827.
