MARION, Va. Ray Calhoun Grissom, age 93, died Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Frances Marion Manor. Mrs. Grissom had been a very active member of the Royal Oak Presbyterian Church during her lifetime. She was born in Lewisburg, N.C., and was a graduate of Montreat College. Her life was centered around her family, church and friends. Mrs. Grissom is survived by her husband of 70 years, William T. Grissom of Marion; one son, Pete Grissom and wife, Sue, of Marion; one brother, Bobby Calhoun of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one granddaughter, Cynthia Smith; one great-granddaughter, Skylare Smith; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Royal Oak Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Alan Gray and the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at Royal Oak Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Children's Home of the Highlands, P.O. Box 545, Wytheville, VA 24382.
