Margaret Lee Black, 78, of Tuscumbia, Ala., passed away Feb. 5, 2008. Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Friday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. in the chapel, with burial to follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Brother Mike Colston.

She was born Aug. 10, 1929, in Russellville, Ala. She grew up in Tuscumbia, attended public schools there and graduated from Deshler High School in 1948.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hovah Grissom and Lela Mae (Hester) Grissom, and an infant son, Derek Cranston Black.

She leaves surviving her a son, D. Marcel Black and wife, Martha T. Black; a grandson, D. Edgar Black and wife, Laurie Black; and a granddaughter, Virginia Fern Black; two brothers, Jerry Knight Grissom and wife, Lib Grissom, and Randy Stone.

She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, Tuscumbia, for more than 60 years.

Her "job" for the past 15 years was serving as a volunteer at Shoals Hospital. There she dispensed joy, happiness and comfort to all she came in contact with.

Serving as pallbearers are Edgar Black, Steven Everett, James L (Mack) Hester, Kenneth R. Hester, Leon Hester and Tim Willingham.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Terence T. Hart and the administration, staff, nurses and volunteers of Shoals Hospital, Muscle Shoals, Ala.

The family wishes to thank all of the health-care providers and employees at Shoals Hospital and at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation for the Shoals facility for the loving care provided to her as well as the courtesies extended to the family.
