GRISSOM Agnes Arnita (Campbell) Grissom, 80 a retired caregiver, departed this life on Monday, December 10, 2012 in Mobile, AL after a brief illness. Agnes was born in Linden (Marengo County), AL to George and Lethany Campbell (both preceding her in death). She had one brother, Sonny, who also preceded her in death at a very early age. Agnes was baptized at an early age and attended Hopewell Baptist Church in Linden, AL where she was active in the Sunday school. After graduating from high school and moving to Mobile, AL. Agnes met and married John Grissom (preceded her in death) and started a family. She worked at various jobs while taking cosmetology and nursing assistant classes. Over the years, she worked mainly in the nursing filed as a private sitter; over sixteen years at Cogburn Nursing Home. She felt that she was meant to provide care and assistance to those in need. That would be her calling. Agnes was a member of the original St. Luke Baptist Church where she sung in the choir and volunteered on many of St. Luke fundraising committees back in the day. All through her years, Agnes enjoyed the game of basketball; college or professional. This enjoy-ment stemmed from her early days in high school when she herself played basketball. Along with the sport, Agnes thoroughly enjoyed her yard. Her flowers and vegetables stand as her true dedication and love for the outdoors. She kept her garden going up until her illness. Agnes (also nicknamed Tea, Bay Bay and Granny) encountered so many good people along her journey; people she regarded as friends and she always checked on those that she called friends as well as her relatives, right to the very end. Survivors include, two daughters, Renee Grissom (Overland Park) and Regina McCarroll (Mobile); one grandson (the light of her life), John McCarroll. Agnes has numerous of cousins, friends and neighbors whom she cherished. Agnes is loved dearly and will be missed greatly. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at St. Luke missionary Baptist Church, 751 Texas St. Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in Catholic Cemetery.
