HEART AILMENT BRINGS LIFE JOURNEY TO END FOR CHARLEY GRISHAM
Charley E. Grisham, 70, long time resident in the Blue Ridge country of Hamilton County, and a prominent known farmer-rancher, passed away at his home on Monday, May 21, , at about the noon hour.
Mr. Grisham's death was not unexpected as he had been ill for several weeks of a serious heart ailment but brought profound grief and loneliness to a devoted family and a legion of friends.
Funeral services with arrangements in care of Bob Riley undertakers, were held at Blue Ridge Baptist Church on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock with the Rev. Sam Drake officiating. When informed of the death of his brother, Virgil Grisham, who had been under treatment for a heart ailment collapsed at his home in this city and was conveyed to the Hamilton Sanitarium. He was reported to be somewhat improved on Tuesday morning.
Charles Ephraim Grisham was born in Fannin County, January 4, 1881, to James L. and Margaret Amanda ([Jones]) Grisham. He lived around Evant and Blue Ridge community most of his life. He was married to Miss Myrtle (Myrtie "Myrtle") Onie Deathrage in 1908. Three children were born to this union. They are Mrs. Charles R. Walker, Mrs. Alven C. Perry, and Cecil Grisham. At the time of his death he had been a member of the Blue Ridge Baptist Church longer than any of the other present members.
Those attending his funeral Tuesday afternoon at the Blue Ridge Baptist Church from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Grisham and family, Kress; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Culp, Plainview; Mr. and Mr. J. D. Loe[Tole], Wichita Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Truman Grisham, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Snider, and Mrs. Maude Fletcher, Gatesville; Doug Fletcher, New York; Mr. and Mrs. Jess Snider, Ireland; Sam Williams, Fort Worth; Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Williams, Stephenville. A few of the friends were Rev. R. L. Norris and Hampton Richey, Brownwood.
The Funeral service was under direction of the Bob Riley Funeral Home. Rev. Sam Drake and Rev. R. L. Norris were the officiating ministers.
