R. Olivette "Ollie" Grinnen, 92, DuBois, died Saturday at DuBois Nursing Home.
Born Sept. 7, 1917, in Adrian (Delancy), she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Clara R. Shaffer Nelson. She was married to Irvin M. Grinnen, who survives. The couple celebrated their 71st anniversary Nov. 5.
She was a Sandy High School graduate, Class of 1936, where she was a member of the TaWasi Women's Club.
She was employed with Owens Brockway Glass and retired after 17 years as a waitress for Penn Traffic. For 26 years, she had volunteered with DuBois Regional Medical Center.
She joined and became the longest living active member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school, Bible School, and was a member of the Good News Club. She was the financial secretary of the church and the president of the United Methodist Women's Club. She was also a member of the Ruby Iams Women's Guild, DuBois Women's Club, and the DuBois Garden Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth (John) Shaffer of Strasburg and Clara Mae Ireland of Lancaster; a son, Irvin W. (Kathleen) Grinnen of York Springs; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Devere and William Nelson; and two sisters, Josephine Smith and Mae Thompson.
