Dora Ann Huckabay Grigsby, a daughter of early Texas settlers, was born to Lonnie Huckabay and Dessie Richardson Huckabay, November 27, 1913 in Erath County, Texas, the first of five children. She passed from this life February 18, 2011, at Vista Care at Carillon, Lubbock Texas. She grew up in Plainview, Texas, and on January 1, 1929, she married Albert Harrison Grigsby.
Dora's life was one of commitment to her family and her church. She was an accomplished seamstress and designed and made ball gowns for Eastern Star ladies, and many young sorority girls attending Texas Tech.
Dora Grigsby was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and sisters; two grandsons, Kevin Golden and Lance Grigsby; and great-great grandson, Adam Pope; and her husband Albert Harrison.
Dora Grigsby was more than a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she was the model of a dedicated Christian woman, committed to her family. The marriage of Albert and Dora was one of devotion and love for 72 years when Albert died in 2001.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Golden of Lubbock; son, Lindle and wife Lutha of Farmers Branch, Texas; granddaughter, Debbie and husband Derick Gorny of Lubbock; and grandson, Lee Grigsby and wife Sue of Flower Mound, TX; and six great-grandchildren.
