MINDEN, LA - Funeral services for Elizabeth Ann LaBelle Grigsby, 73 will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday August 1, 2008, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church. Bro. Jerry Brannen and Bro. Bill Ichter officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00p.m till 8:00p.m at Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Mrs. Grigsby was born August 4, 1935, in Plattsburgh, New York, and died July 28, 2008 in Minden, La.
She moved to San Antonio, Texas and joined the United States Air Force, where she worked as a clerk in the top-secret, Project, Blue Book. It was here where she met the love of her life, Richard Grigsby. They moved back to Minden and for 53 years they devoted themselves to raising their family with love and Christian values. She was the curator for Germantown Colony Museum for 10 years, a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and dearly loved the Lord. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and chatting about politics with her family and friends. She was devoted to her husband and family and dearly loved her country.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence LaBelle; mother, Mildred Moore; stepfather, Raymond Moore; sister, Gloria Rascoe and brother, Darwin LaBelle.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard Grigsby and children Robin McCormack and husband, Caston, Richard Grigsby, Jr. and wife, Kirsten of Mt. Vernon, Tx. Remembering her lovingly as "Bama" are her grandchildren, Todd McCormack and wife, Michele, Michele and husband, Chris, Andrew McCormack, Adam Grigsby, Ben Grigsby and Chloe Grigsby; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Caroline and Cameron McCormack, Grace and Drew Brennan & Rydon McCormack. She is also survived by her sister, Dorrine Provost and husband, Clayton of Plattsburgh, New York; brothers-in-law, Lemuel Grigsby and wife, Joan and Randy Grigsby and wife, Joyce; sisters-in-law, Jan Chanler and husband, Billy and Lois LaBelle and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Todd McCormack, Jr. Andrew McCormack, Adam Grigsby, Benjamin Grigsby, Chris Brennan and Michael Chanler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Grigsby and Matthew Chanler
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Michael Chanler, the nurses and staff of Town and Country Rehabilitation Center, nurses and staff of Minden Medical Center, family and friends for their many cards, gifts and prayers. For their compassion and exceptional care, special thanks are given to Wanda, Mavis, and Tammy who stayed by her side for many hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Grove United Methodist Church.
