The Anthon family were members of New Hope Church. Another church member was James W. Grigsby, who probably was Susan Anthon's brother. In the 1880 census, James Grigsby is listed as a farmer and neighbor of Susan Anthon.
On Saturday March 26, 1892, the Fredericksburg Star included the following article: Mrs. Susan Anthon, wife of Mr. John Anthon, of Stafford, a most estimable Christian lady, after an illness of several years duration, borne with meekness and submission to the will of her Master, died last Tuesday night, in the 65th year of her age. She was a consistent member of New Hope Methodist church and beloved by all who knew her.
The exact area where Susan Anthon was buried is unknown. The Anthon residence was near Captain Dan Lee's Highland Home. Another property in that same area is the recently developed Leeland Station.
