David Griffiths, 61, died at Martin Memorial Hospital South in Port Salerno, FL. He was born in Scranton, PA and lived in Hobe Sound for 30 years, coming from Hopatcong, NJ.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Service Medal. He was a former security guard for Florida Power and Light, Hutchinson Island. He was commander of AMVETS Post 92 of Rio and Jensen Beach; American Legion Post 126, Jensen Beach; VFW Post 10132 Hobe Sound. He was also a member of the Moose Jensen Beach Lodge 1690.
Survivors include his daughter, Kristie Kirstein; son, David J. Griffiths Jr.; mother, Dolores Griffiths; sisters, Sharon Prusak; Bettyann Culvert; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Linda J. Griffiths, and father, Willard Griffiths.
SERVICES: Visitation will be from 2:30-4:30p Nov. 27 at Forest Hills Young and Prill Chapel in Stuart with a remembrance at 3p. Graveside services will be at Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart followed by a reception at AMVETS Post 92 at a later date. A guest book may be signed at youngandprill.com.
