She was born Oct. 14, 1948, in Wentz, Ky., to Troy and Mary (Shepherd) Griffith, and resided in the Elwood-Alexandria area most of her lifetime. She had worked at Carter’s Supermarket and more recently at Kmart in Elwood for eight years until 2009.
She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley, the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning. She was a NASCAR fan and loyal to Jeff Gordon. Uldene took special delight in holiday times with her kids and grandchildren and she loved spending time with her late husband.
Survivors include four daughters, Samantha (Ryan) Robinson of Elwood, Sherri Armfield (fiance, Donald Turney) of Anderson, Misty Davis and Schavon (Matt) McCune of Summitville; two stepdaughters, Tracy Vincent and Dona Armfield, both of Kokomo; two stepsons, Steven Armfield and Thomas Armfield, both of Kokomo; several grandchildren including 13 local special grandchildren; two sisters, Gradene Lawson of Indianapolis and Martha (Arthur) Mell of Mishawaka; and several nieces and nephews, including Sandy Workman and Frank Workman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, Steven Armfield in 2009; sister, Donna Halcomb Ward; and brothers, Archie Halcomb, Winford Halcomb, Troy Halcomb and Bee Halcomb.
Services honoring Uldene’s life will take at 1 p.m. Friday at Noffze Funeral Home, 501 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastor Jerry Hilligoss officiating.
Interment will follow in Forrestville Cemetery in Boone Township. Friends may call at the Noffze Funeral Home on Friday after 11 a.m. prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Resident‘s Activity Fund at the Alexandria Care Center through the funeral home.
