Obituary: Mrs. Oddest Lola Carter, 91, died Wednesday night at Memorial Medical Center, Jacksonville, Florida after a long illness. She was an Appling County native but had lived in Waycross most of her life and was a member of First United Pentecostal Church. She was the widow of Jacob Henry Carter and daughter of Solomon Jacob and Martha Thornton Griffis. Survivors are two daughters: Auyndine Corbett, Monroeville AL and Bobbie Bates, Jacksonville, FL; a son: Charlie J. Carter, Waycross; three sisters: Pearl Horne and ElizabethTurner, both of Daytona Beach, FL and Martha Spears, Jacksonville, FL; a brother: Willie Griffis, Daytona Beach; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren. Funeral will be at 11 am, saturday at Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Appling County, followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
Funeral for Oddest G. Carter,91, was held Saturday morning at Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Reverend Quinton Griffis and Elder Earlish Lightsey officiating. Burial was in Big Creek Cemetery with Miles-Odum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Talmadge Griffis; Sonny Griffis; Carroll Griffis; Tony Griffis; Roy Brockingham and Ed Butler.
