Life Legacy

Aubrey N. Griffin, age 78, of Waco, formerly of West, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, July 22, 2014 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West.

Aubrey was born March 31, 1936 in Dallas the son of the late Ottie A. and Isabell (Powell) Griffin. He attended Alta Vista Elementary and graduated from Waco High School in 1954. He then attended 4C Business College before joining the Texas Army National Guard. On May 5, 1956 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Hanson in Waco. Aubrey was a pressman for the Waco Tribune Herald and the Houston Post. He owned the Waco Tom's Sales from 1973 to 1988 prior to buying the West Super Save until 1990. He then was a manager for several other retail stores including Hillsboro and Sherman Dollar Stores. Aubrey enjoyed fishing, going out to eat, and watching old Western movies on TV. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Jerrie Griffin of Waco; a daughter, Connie Gullett and husband Tom of Sherman; two sons, Keith Griffin of Houston and Greg Griffin of Waco; a brother, Jim Griffin and wife Faye; grandchildren, Jesse Gullett and wife Amanda, Aimee Gullett, Emily Renfro and husband Kris, Ashton Griffin, Taylor Griffin, Mindy Griffin and fiancee Erik Cummings, and Kayla Griffin; great grandchildren, Katie, Emily, Christopher, Faith, Kyra and Ryder; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
