Funeral was December 29 in the Sunset Chapel of Donelson, Sewell & Matthews Mortuary for Charlie Emmett Griffin, 77, who was dead on arrival at a Hillsboro hospital December 26. The Rev. Ivan Marble, pastor of Gales Creek Community Church, officiated and interment was in Fir Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Griffin was born March 29, 1892 at Joplin, Missouri. He married Hazel Bevan on July 10 1943 at Vancouver, Washington. He had been a resident of Hillsboro for 52 years and before coming there the family had lived in Independence and in Roy. He was a retired construction worker, an employee of Adolph Moore Construction Co. for 30 years.

His wife, Hazel, survives as do numerous nieces and nephews. Three brothers and three sisters died earlier.
