Rachel Candelaria, age 83, went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2015 peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.
Rachel was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Arthur R. Candelaria, her parents, Antonio Griego and Virginia Moya, brother, Manuel Griego and grandson, Mark.
Rachel is survived by her brother, Joe Mesa (Connie) and many nieces and nephews, her children, Rachel II (Joe), Veronica (Phil), Arthur Jr. (Gloria), Geri (Steve), Kathy (Tom) and Michelle, grandchildren, Bernadette, Joshua, Jason, Anthony Wayne, Christopher, Lynette, Amber, Brianna (Austin), Lily and Shay and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Rachel worked as a waitress at Fitos Restaurant in her teen years. Rachel also worked as a cashier and floor walker at Kresses Drug Store. Later she attended the Hollywood School of Beauty, with the goal of owning her own beauty salon. Rachel put her career on hold to run a children's day care, as she found joy in caring for her children and those of others. Her love for people and the Lord ultimately led her into a Christ-centered Ministry with her husband, Art. They both graduated in 1991 from Victory Love Fellowship Bible College under Pastor Rob Carmen, and served as Bible Study leaders and later, Branch Leaders overseeing the Southwest District of Victory Love.
Her hobbies included reading, Bible study, listening to the old time Big Bands and watching old Turner Classic Movies.
Rachel was loved dearly by her family and friends and left them a wonderful legacy - she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
