Mary Reyes Griego Montoya, age 87, entered God's garden on Tuesday, March 13, 2007. Mary Reyes was born on June 22, 1919 in Albuquerque, she was preceded in death by her loving parents, Feliciano Griego and Mary Carlota Evans, her brothers and her two sisters, Alice Padilla and Pauline Martinez. Mary Reyes, a parishioner of Queen of Heaven Parish, was a devout Catholic with a strong faith. Mary Reyes was a self-sufficient woman who encouraged strength, a love of learning, a strong work ethic, independence and loyalty in her daughters, Mary Mela Beecher of Albuquerque and Mary Carlotta Ballard and her husband, Gene, of Moriarty, grandsons, Brian Ballard and Rey Beecher. Besides being a precious role model and a loving mother, she was a truthful and loyal friend to all who knew her. Mary Reyes deeply loved her home and took immense satisfaction, joy, and pride in her gardening. Mary Reyes will be greatly missed. We celebrate her life, even as we mourn her passing and know the angels rejoiced in welcoming her gentle spirit. Friends and family may visit French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel on Friday, March 16, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. until the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Queen of Heaven Parish, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gene Ballard Jr., Brian Ballard, Rey Beecher, Anthony Martinez, Chano Martinez and Richard Valdez. Honorary Pallbearer will be Tommy Gonzalez.
