Alamosa, Colo. resident Mabel Maria Alonzo, 81, passed away May 30, 2008 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa. Mabel was born May 6, 1927 in Russell, Colo. the daughter of Pablo Griego and Ramonsita Sanchez. She was united in marriage to Frank Alonzo on Jan. 7, 1947 in Taos, NM.
Mabel enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, sewing, going to the casino, and spending time with her loving family.
Survivors include her husband Frank Alonzo of the family home in Alamosa; one daughter Nancy (Joseph) Maestas of Alamosa; one son Bob (Toni) Alonzo of Alamosa; five grandchildren Adrian (Gail) Alonzo of Wausa, Neb, Jeremy (Jennifer) Alonzo of Alamosa, Sara Alonzo of Astoria, NY, Jacqueline (Adam) Martinez of Alamosa and Joseph Maestas of Alamosa; 9 great-grandchildren as well, as by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Mary Trujillo, five brothers Leo, Al, Gilbert, Ruben, and Claudio Griego.
A prayer service will be held on Tue, June 3, 2008 at 7 pm at the River of Life Assembly of God Church. A funeral service will be held on Wed, June 4, 2008 at 10 am at the River of Life Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow at Alamosa Cemetery. Friends may view on Tue, June 3, 2008 from 10-5 at Romero Funeral Home in Alamosa who is in care of arrangements.
