Anchorage resident Teresa Lee Gregory, 42, died Feb. 15, 1997, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. A service was held at Evergreen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3804 Spenard Road. Burial was in Anchorage Memorial Park cemetery.

Mrs. Gregory was born May 2, 1954, in Corvallis, Ore., to William and Loreta Miller Smith. She moved with her family to Alaska in 1966 and graduated from West High School in 1972. Since June 1976, she was employed by Anchorage Telephone Utility as a telephone operator. Mrs. Gregory was a member and past president of the International Jaycees and received the Henry Giessen Bier Memorial Trophy for outstanding Jaycee chapter president. She was a member of the AmVets Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the I.B.E.W. She enjoyed reading, listening to music and watching vintage movies. Her family said: ''Teresa was very devoted to helping her family and friends. She was a very generous person, someone who was known for extending a helping hand to complete strangers. She always gave people the benefit of the doubt and would go out of her way to bring comfort and joy to others. She loved Alaska for its natural beauty and always loved to get out as much as time would allow to see the Great Land. She met her husband, Mark, through the Jaycees in 1986, and over time their love for each other blossomed. Mark lived in a different city. However, they carried on a long-distance romance until they were married on August of 1989. They had just returned from a long overdue honeymoon vacation in Hawaii. Teresa loved the natural beauty and serenity of the islands. She was enamored of the botanical richness of Hawaii and spent much of her time there videotaping and taking snap memories.''

Mrs. Gregory is survived by her husband, Mark, of Anchorage; mother, Loreta Smith of Anchorage; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and David Swartz of Tucson, Ariz.; and two nieces, Wendy Swartz of Tuscon and Heather Howell of Anchorage. Arrangements by Evergreen Funeral Home & Crematory.
