Mildred Catherine Greer, 101, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, 13 March 2011 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Mrs. Greer was born 23 March 1910 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Homer Stephen and Florence Regina (Light) Hasting.
She married Elmer Swope, (Sr.) on 16 October 1926 in Ottumwa, Iowa. They had four children.
Secondly, she married Oscar Harold Johnson on 31 Oct 1936 in Davenport, Iowa and they had one daughter, Ada Louise Johnson.
Third, she married Charles E. Greer on May 23, 1942 and they had one son, Jack Lee. Survivors include five loving children: Van (Alberta) Swope, Charles Swope, Robert Swope, Jack Lee (Karen) Greer, all of Davenport, and Ada (John) Streit of Naples, Florida; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
She was formerly employed as a cook and manager at Rockingham Drug Store and was a member of Word of Faith Tabernacle in Davenport. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Greer, a son, Elmer Swope, Jr., daughter-in-law Grace Swope, and three sisters: Helen, Frances, and Cuba. Her son, Elmer W. Swope Jr. is buried next to her along with her husband, Charles.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 16 March 2011, at 1pm in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
