Tanya Greening Faherty
(January 16, 1943 - June 22, 2010)
Tanya Greening Faherty, 67, of Liberty Hill, died June 22, 2010 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Tanya will be brought back to the land, home and family she adored, to be with them always as that would have been her greatest desire. She will be laid to rest in the Faherty Family Cemetery on the family property at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 26, 2010 with Pastor Randall Hilburn officiating.
Tanya was born January 16, 1943 to Tom and Polly (Watkins) Greening in Hamilton, TX. She attended school in Austin and in Virginia, returning to Texas in 1975 to stay. She also attended North Texas State University and The University of Texas. She worked outside of the home for several different government agencies but her real passion was her family, friends, and animals. She loved to read books, to work in her yard with flowers to make it beautiful. Tanya appreciated the abundance of nature at the ranch, especially the numerous varieties of birds. She had birdhouses everywhere and always made sure there was plenty of food to encourage them staying around. She had a real fondness for hummingbirds. Tanya loved and was very proud of her home in the Hill Country outside of Liberty Hill, which she decorated so lovely that everyone who visited there felt instantly comfortable and welcome.
Tanya is preceded in death by her beloved father, Tom Greening. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 39 years, Mike; sons, Jason Thomas Faherty and Fred Bledsue; mother, Polly; Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Tanya is also survived by a host of critters which she enjoyed everyday including her loving dogs; Shorty, Bob, Brandy (whom she spoiled rotten), and Peanut. Tanya also had Socks, who was her favorite and special cat, who is waiting for her in heaven.
Tanya fought a long and hard three and half year battle with cancer. She spent a year in and out of MD Anderson and recently at Seton Hospital in Austin. During these last days when Tanya wanted to be home, she was cared for 24/7 by an amazing group of loving, caring nurses and caregivers for whom we are eternally grateful. We pray daily for a cure to the dreaded diseases of cancer that affect so many families and took Tanya away too soon.
