Death: Dec., 1931
Wheat Ridge
Jefferson County

Elsie Green Crosby was born, April 15, 1847, at Watson, N. Y.; a daughter of Wells Kenyon Green and Rosehannah Witter Green. While she was a girl she moved with her parents to Illinois and then to New Auburn, Minn. On October 30, 1867, at the age of twenty, Elsie was married to James Willett Crosby at New Auburn, Minn., by Elder H. W. Babcock. "She lived and served the Lord with him for sixty-four years. During all of those years they were so devoted to each other and so dependent on each other that friends and loved ones feel that the Lord showed his love for them by allowing them to go home together as they had lived together." (Sabbath Recorder, Jan 1932).

Elsie is survived by two sons, Dr. Leonard G. Crosby, of Denver; and J. Wells Crosby of Wheatridge, Colo. "These sons have lovingly and devotedly cared for their father and mother during the declining years of their lives. Mr. and Mrs. Wells Crosby have not spared themselves in any way, as they have looked after the dear old folks night and day for the past few months in particular." Also surviving are grandchildren, Ada Crosby Davis (Mrs. Elno Davis) and Kenneth Crosby and his wife, Margaret, both of Wheatridge, Colorado.

Elsie's husband, James W. Crosby, died on the same day as she.

Deacon James and Elsie Crosby have been preceded in death by a daughter, Martha J., who died at two years of age in 1872 (in New Auburn, Minn.), Arthur Garfield Crosby, who died in 1915 (in Milton Junction, Wisc.), and an adopted daughter Blanche, who died in 1918 (in New Auburn, Minn.). A granddaughter, Elsie A. Crosby (who was named for her grandmother), died in the summer of 1930.

Farewell services were held on the afternoon of December 23, 1931. Services were in charge of Pastor Ralph H. Coon and representatives of the Grand Army of the Republic. The remains were laid away side by side in the Fairmont Mausoleum at Denver. R. H. C.
