Janet Baker, age 77, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 29, 2015 surrounded by the love of her family.

Janet, known to family and friends as “Granny”, was born September 26, 1937 to Ralph and Evelyn (Wolfe) Green in Richmond, IN. She married Donald Baker July 1, 1953. Janet lived most of her life in Richmond, IN where she raised her ten children. She donated a kidney to her daughter Vickie in 1972 at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, OH. Janet never had much in the way of material possessions but she was blessed with a big family, a generous heart and more love and compassion than most. Janet will be sorely missed. She was a mother to some, “Granny” to many, and a true friend to all. Her laugh was infectious, her spirit adventurous, her caring deep and her gentleness and generosity beyond compare.

She is survived by her sister Barbara Hines (Jack) of Lynn, two sons, Donald Baker (Brenda) of Houston, TX, Mark Baker (Kathy) of Richmond, IN, six daughters, Jo Evelyn Parrett of North Platte, NE, Vickie Mofield (Danny) of Centerville, IN, Barbara McClain of Richmond, IN, Belinda Barker (Gary) of Richmond, IN, Mary “Bo” Miller of Richmond, IN, Theresa Goss (Doug) of Richmond, IN, 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, two daughters Carolyn “Stuff” Baker and Sharon “Goose” Sharp, twin sister Jeanette Seifer, sister Leota Stanley, brother Jack Green, son in-law Ronald Miller, one angel great-grandchild, and special friend Sue Sittloh.

Janet's calling will be on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 11am to 1pm at Galilean Baptist Church 204 South Morton Avenue, Centerville, IN with funeral services beginning at 1pm. Pastor Danny Cross will officiate. Burial will be at Webster Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may send contributions in memory of Janet Baker to the National Kidney Foundation 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
