Rosa Green was born in Mason, April 14th 1869, and died in her home in Hillsboro Ind., May 22nd 1897, from whence she was brought to her old home where she could be laid to rest near her parents who died in her childhood. She was married to Joseph Adkins, July 10th 1893, to whom she has been a loving wife and companion. She died of consumption.
She united with the M. E. church in Mason under Rev. Nall's pastorate, and was taken into full membership while Rev. Bovard was pastor of the charge.
She had a strong christian faith and a heart full of love for Christ and the church, always in her place and ready to do all in her power in his service. Her testimony was always full of hope and trust. She was an earnest student of the Bible and her mind was stored with its precepts and teachings. She leaves a husband, sister, and three brothers who mourn their loss, but leaves them the sweet assurance that if they live right in God's sight they will meet her on the everlasting shore of Heavenly bliss to live with Christ forever.
The funeral service was conducted in the grove in the cemetery by Rev. M. B. Baker, of Farina, on Monday afternoon May 24th immediately after the burial of Rev. Bovard's child. Rev. Baker delivered an excellent funeral oration though short, and was followed by Rev. Bovard in a short tribute of respect to the deceased. Rev. Vandaveer conducted the burial service at the grave. The husband, sister, and brother of the deceased have the heartfelt sympathy of the community in this their sad bereavement.
