Ruth Elberta Green Carr, 97, of Moody, passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, in McGregor. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at First Baptist Church, 300 Ave. E, Moody, with Dr. Tom Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in Moody Cemetery under the direction of Cole Chapel, Moody. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Cole Chapel.
Ruth was born in Bangs, Texas, to the late Samuel Homer and Mary Frances (McIntosh) Green. On Feb. 16, 1928, she married Leon Cole Carr in Bangs, Texas. Since 1941, they had lived on a farm near Moody on SH 236. Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church of Moody and will be remembered as a loving, kind, generous, strong and extremely hard worker and would always try to do anything if asked. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 26, 1989; a daughter, Reba Kathleen Carr Hopkins; brother, John Artimus Green; and a half-sister, Nellie Nadine Adair Meredieth.
Survivors include daughter, Frances Laverne Carr Avera, of Houston; son, Leon Cole Carr, Jr., of Moody; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
