Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Resthaven Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
Boren was born on March 7, 1922, in Grandfield, Okla. to the late Joseph and Minta (Boren) Green. After graduating from Portales High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Madge Maurine Brown. They were married for 49 years and had four children: Ralph, Steve, Doug, and Jim. After her death, he married Betty Butler and had 14 years with her.
Boren graduated from Texas Tech University in 1949 with a degree in Civil Engineering. While he was attending Tech, he was also building his own house. Following graduation, he spent time as a FHA Inspector in Lubbock County. During his Air Force service, he achieved Registered Professional Engineering Status. He received this recognition in 1956. Lieutenant Colonel Green spent 23 years in the Air Force and was a Command Pilot. During his tenure with the Air Force, Boren engineered a SAC Base in New York and had a position of responsibility in the Titan II Missile System. His citations included the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star.
Boren was preceded in death by a son, Jim Green; three brothers; and a sister.
Those left to cherish his memories include three sons, Ralph Green of Lubbock, Steve Green and wife Carrie of Riverside, Calif. and Doug Green and wife Debbie of Denver, Colo.; ten grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
