Jacquelyn Green 63, of Hilton Head Island and wife of Clarence Green, died Saturday, August 18, 2012, at her residence.

Funeral Services: 1:00 PM Friday, August 24, 2012 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 382 Squire Pope Road, Hilton Head Island. Burial to follow in Amelia Cemetery.

The body will lie in repose at the Church from 10:00 AM until the hour of services. There will be no viewing after the eulogy.

Jacquelyn Barnwell Green affectionately known as "Jackie" was born March 31, 1948 in Savannah, Georgia, to Ida Marie Nelson and adopted father, Robert Nelson, of Savannah Georgia, both preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Sol C. Johnson High School in Savannah, GA. On July 19, 1968, Jackie was joined in marriage to the love of her life Clarence Green Jr. This union was blessed with six lovely children.

Jackie confessed Christ as her personal savior; was baptized and became an active part in the ministry of Jesus Christ and a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Benjamin Williams. She served as a soloist of the Gospel Chorus and a dedicated and faithful member of the Ben Williams Mass Choir until her illness. She enjoyed singing and lifting the name of Jesus, "Oh it is Jesus, Oh it is Jesus, it is Jesus in my soul, for I have touched the hem of his garment and His blood has made me whole".

She worked at the Hilton Head Inn for many years in Housekeeping Services. She was self-employed in the hospitality industry and later employed with Palm Meadows Village, where she retired in 2011. "Mrs. Jackie", as she was called by co-workers, was known to roar like a lion but was as sweet and gentle as a lamb.

On Saturday, August 18, 2012, in the comfort of her bedroom with family and friends standing near, and God being too wise and too just to be unkind said, "well-done, thy good and faithful servant". He gently closed her eyes and whispered, " Peace be thine".

In addition to her parents, a sister, Annette Jordan; her adopted godmother, Sara Campbell; one granddaughter; two brothers-in-law, Jocephus and Jerry all preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish and celebrate her life: a devoted and loving husband of forty-four years, Clarence Green, Jr.; three sons, Antonio (Lisa) Barnwell of Savannah, GA, Timothy (Nicole) Barnwell of Atlanta, GA and Carlton Green of Hilton Head, SC; three loving daughters, Karen (Douglas) Young of Hilton Head, SC, Maria (Cedric) Hart of Columbia, SC and Shani Green of Hilton Head, SC; one guardian son, Caylin Green and one god-son, Michael King of Clermont, FL; one sister, Barbara (Carlton) Stewart of Duluth, GA; one cousin (as a sister), Betty (Rev. Arthur) Jackson; three brothers, Arthur (Annie) Cuthbert of Hampton, SC, Edward (Lucrissa) Barnwell and James (Cassandra) Barnwell of Savannah, GA; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; ten sisters-in-law, Thelma Byas, Helen, Rosa and Glenna Green, Laverne (Joe) Bolden, Stephanie, Jannette, Celestine, Sandra and Edith all of Hilton Head, SC; eight brothers-in-law, Calvin, Eddie, Eugene, John Lee, Curtis, Jerome, Bobby and Alfred; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, In-laws, other relatives and caring friends to include three special friends, Rose Driessen, Naomi Brown and Samson Murray.
