Gayle Armstrong, 85, passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011. Service: 10 a.m. Monday at Blessing Funeral Home. Burial: Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Blessing. Gayle was born in Weatherford, Okla., in 1925. Growing up she tap danced, sang, played piano, and enjoyed riding her horse Tony. In 1945 she married her high school sweetheart, Jack Armstrong, who had just returned from World War II combat in the South Pacific, serving on the USS Holly. She and Jack had four children: Robert, Linda, Larry and Craig. Later came seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild at last count. As a homemaker Gayle was an exceptionally good cook, enjoyed gardening, was an avid card player and often filled the house with piano music she played from the big band era. She sang alto in the Methodist Church choir for many years. In the 1980s she and Jack built a beautiful log house in the mountains of central Colorado where they hosted friends and relatives for many summers.
