Mary Lois Alvey, 61, of Sturgis, died of an apparent heart attack at 5 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at Methodist Hospital Union County. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sturgis. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Pride, who died in 1964, and her second husband, Francis Alvey, who died in 1994. Survivors include one daughter, Kelli Pride, of Sturgis; one son, Leslie Pride, of Sturgis; three sisters, Alma Chandler, of Sturgis, Hilda Williams, of Sullivan, and Charlotte Walker, of Morganfield; one brother, Reggie Gray, of Sturgis; one granddaughter; and two step-grandchildren. Services were held Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Sturgis with Brothers Don Phelps and Dwight Jackson officiating. Burial was in the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Clay. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association.
