H.E. Gray, 80, of Seymour, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011, in Seymour.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at the First Assembly of God Church, Seymour, with Rev. Jared Berry officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home of Seymour.

H.E. Gray was born May 14, 1931, in Seymour to Herbert Elam and Alice Louise Seydler Gray. He attended school in Seymour and was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1955 until 1957. H.E. married Peggy Delaine Farabee on March 22, 1954, in Wichita Falls. He was a member of the First Assembly of God and served on the Deacon Board. H.E. was a cattleman and cattle buyer, making every cattle sale for 50 years. He was a farmer and a rancher and received the Rancher and Cattleman of the Year award in 1995. H.E. loved the land and taking care of his cattle and was so very thankful that he got to do what he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Windel Elam Gray; and a niece, Jana Ellington.

He is survived by wife, Peggy Gray of Seymour; three children and spouses, Gil Wayne Gray and wife, Beverly of Seymour, Trude Delaine Jones and husband Ron of Lake Kiowa, and Kari Lee Skelton and husband, Jerry of Sanger; one brother, John Ellis Gray and wife, Raelynn of Seymour; one sister, Gilda Ivey and husband Rodney of Seymour; seven grandchildren, Erin and Brent Henry of Holliday, Adam Gray of Seymour, Tai and Chris Killian of Wichita Falls, Whitney and Jamie Bain of Wichita Falls, Jordan Skelton of China, Seth and Brittney Skelton of Denver, Colorado, and Shea and Cody Melton of Wichita Falls; and five great-grandchildren, Salem, Scout, Skyler, Nash, and Charli Grayce.
