Mary Elizabeth Baker Gray was born in Jacksboro, Jack, Texas. Mary Elizabeth married Sam Houston Gray 30 August 1891. Mary had been living with her sister, Nancy Rosannah Baker Lott, and after getting their marriage license in Lewisville, she and Sam Houston were married at "Nannie's" home in Denton County.
The couple moved to Spring Creek, Baylor,Texas. In 1907 they purchased a section of land and the family moved to Maybelle, Baylor,Texas, near Seymour, Baylor,Texas, where they lived until Sam died. After Sam died, Mary moved to a house they owned in Seymour, Baylor, Texas and lived there until she died of congestive heart failure in Fort Worth, Tarrant, Texas while visiting her daughter, Ila Elizabeth Billington.
