Two Colored Women Drown When Car is Driven Into The River
Friday night about 9:00 o'clock a Dodge car owned by John Marshall and driven by his son, Ora Marshall, went into the river and two of the passengers, Julia Marshall, wife of John Marshall, and Emma Graham, occupants of the back seat with Marshall, were drowned. They were returning from Richmond. Marshall had been working in Hardin, his former home, in interest of the bridge bonds. In the evening they drove to Richmond. On returning home they took an abandoned road to the river and the tragedy resulted. All are colored.
The body of Emma Graham was recovered Tuesday evening below Riverton, Julia Marshall's body has not been found.
