Mr. Graw died Friday, July 21, 2000, at his home in Davenport, after a brief illness.
Carl Edwin Graw Jr. was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Williamson, Iowa, to Carl E. and Bertha B. (Milburn) Graw Sr.
He graduated from Williamson High School in 1942 and later took extension classes at the University of Illinois, Moline.
He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Navy aboard the USS Monterey in the South Pacific. His military uniforms are on exhibit at Williamson Museum.
He married Betty York on Nov. 28, 1946, at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Mr. Graw retired July 1, 1985, from Aluminum Company of America as a machine operator after 32 years.
His memberships included the Alcoa Retirees Club, Alcoa 25-year Club, Loyal Order of the Moose 28, Knights of Columbus 532 Loras Council, Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club and a 54-year member of Holy Family Church. Memorials may be made to Genesis Visiting Nurses Association.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Anne and Thomas Donahue, Livonia, Mich.; grandchildren, Diane Donahue and David Donahue, both of Livonia; and a sister, Lois Graw, Rock Island. His parents and three sisters preceded him in death.
