Our hearts were deeply saddened on Tuesday May 13, 2008 when God called Mrs. Deborah D. Britton home.
Deborah was born on July 11, 1958 to Deacon Vernon M. Graves, Sr. (who preceded her in death) and Ruth V. Graves in Waverly. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Marvin A. Graves, Sr.
She accepted Christ at an early age, and was a member of the Rose of Sharon Apostolic Church. She was educated in the Sussex County Public School System, and employed at Waverly Healthcare Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Deborah always had a word for you. She was a kind-hearted and loving person.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Jeffrey Britton; two devoted sons: Markeith A. Graves (Katja) of Germany; Darnell L. Graves (Chiquita) of Waverly; one loving and devoted daughter, Tekisha L. Graves of Loganville GA; a loving and devoted mother, Ruth Graves of Waverly; a very loving grandmother, Mrs. Ruth L. Turner of Waverly; four brothers: Larry D. Turner of Hopewell, Ronald M. Graves of Surry; Vernon M. Graves, Jr. (Karen) of Petersburg, and Michael O. Graves (Terri) of Chester; three sisters: Yvonne V. Goode (Floyd), Audrey J. Winfield (Roosevelt), and Paula R. Graves, all of Waverly; three beautiful grand-daughters: LaTasha and Thalia Graves of Germany, and Darkia Graves of Waverly; three uncles: Arceal Turner, Jr. (Jackie) of Summerville, SC, Herbert Graves (Mary) of Waverly, and Melvin Graves (Mildred) of Richmond; three aunts: Sylvester Joe (Ed) of Courtland, Albert Chalmers (Claude) of Waverly, and Ernell Winfield of Courtland; three great-aunts: Katie Baines of Waverly; Francis Patterson (Warren) of Ettrick, and Virginia Brown (Charlie) of Dinwiddie; a devoted godmother, Julia Lewis of Waverly; a host of nieces and nephews who she loved dearly; many dear cousins and friends, among them five devoted: Evangelist Linda Brown, Beatrice Moyler, Monica Cannon, Gary Flowers and Tom Parham; a special and loving Pastor, Bishop Tyrone Harper, Sr.; devoted friends of Waverly Healthcare and Rehab Center.
Funeral services was held Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Rose of Sharon Apostolic Church in Waverly; Bishop Tyrone Harper, Sr. officiated. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Sussex.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home.
