Charlotte Barkman, daughter of Cyrus and Carrie Daws Graves, was born in a log cabin on a farm in Center twp. in Shelby county, on Jan. 18, 1875. She died at the Florence Heights Village Care Center in Omaha, Nebr., on Sept. 20, 1976, at age 101 years, 8 months and 12 days and was recognized as Shelby county's oldest resident. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith. She attended Center township No. 5 country School and grew to adulthood on her parent's farm. On Feb. 17, 1898, she married William Barkman in Center twp., Shelby county.
