Chico Enterprise Record, Tuesday December 16, 1969, pg 2A: Mary A Day – Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Hall-Van Hook Funeral Chapel for Mary Anna Day, 81, who died Sunday in a local convalescent hospital.
Mrs. Day, who was born Nov. 21, 1888, in Antelope, Ore., had resided at 575 E. Third St for 46 years.
She was well known in the Chico area and was a chef at the Elks Club for several years. She was a member of the O'Muck Nee Council No. 79, Degree of Pocahontas.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. May Palm of Redding; sis sisters, Mrs. Margaret Moffett, Mrs. Bess Cox, Mrs. Johnnie Sherry, Mrs. Katie Stephens, Mrs. Alta Rudder and Sarah Sardeda; four brothers, William, Allen, Phil and Rodney Grant; and one granddaughters.
Officiating at the services will be the O'Muck Nee Council No. 79, Degree of Pocahontas with Mrs. Frankie Self as Pocahontas, Mrs. Josephine Walker as the Prophetess and Mrs. Grace Hood as Wenonah. Norman Sandberg will be the organist with Merrill Womack as soloist singing ‘The Lord's Prayer.'
Casketbearers will include William Drushal, Frank Ferguson, Walter Bamman, Charles Schab, Jack Vanella and Wendell Byrne.
Interment will follow in Chico Cemetery, next to her late husband, Louis.
