Killed in action at about 0500 hrs on 12 Sep 1918 by intense enemy machine gun fire at the 'Jump-off Line' on the road between Flirey and Limey in the first wave, on the first day, of the St Mihiel Offensive.
Originally buried on the battlefield 1/2 mile north of Limey (Grave 8A), later re-interred and buried at St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France Plot B, Row 3, Grave 23.
