Trooper Squadron A, May 17, 1898 - Oct. 8, 1900. Served in Troop A, NY Volunteer Cavalry, in the Spanish American War. Participated in the Puerto Rico campaign. Contracted typhoid, evacuated back to the United State on board the SS Mississippi. Discharged from volunteer service, Nov. 25, 1898, New York City.
World War 1, 1st Lieutenant QM, Commander of Company A, 351st Labor Battalion, Camp Greene, NC. Discharged Dec. 12, 1918.

John Grannis
The funeral of John H. D. Grannis,72, will be held tomorrow morning
from the Williams Funeral
Home, 41-39 149th place, Murray
Hill, Flushing. Services will follow
at 11 A. M. in St. John's Episcopal
Church, 149th Place and Sanford
Avenue.
Mr. Grannis, who died Friday in
his home at 149-07 Sanford avenue,
Murray Hill, was born in Goshen
N. Y. He was a retired civil engineer
and had lived in Flushing
for seven years.
He was a Spanish-American War
veteran and also served in World
War I.
He was a widower. He is survived
by three daughters, the Misses
Carolyn and Juliette Grannis, with
whom he lived, and Mrs. Helen
Grannis Zwick. He also leaves four
sons, all now in service in the armed
forces.
They are Lieutenant Colonel J.
Douglas Grannis, Sergeant Robert
Grannis, Corporal William Grannis
and Corporal Donald Grannis.
Burial will be In the family plot
at Osslnlng, N. Y.
