Gladys Wright Graham, 87, of Providence Assisted Living, left this life February 24, 2001 in Logan, Utah.
She was born in Marine, Illinois, March 27, 1913, the daughter of Henry and Louisa Emma Williamson Wright. Following her childhood in Illinois, she received RN at the University Hospital in Chicago. While living in Chicago she met a young medical student from Kentucky, Dr. Oscar James Graham whom she followed to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he served an internship at Salt Lake County Hospital. They were married July 6, 1938 in Salt Lake City.
Following a short stay in Livingston, Montana, the couple moved to Bingham Canyon, Utah where they lived for the bulk of World War II, moving to Midvale in 1944 and subsequently to Holladay in 1958.
Gladys was active in Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron in that organization while living in Bingham. She developed many life-long friendships and associations. A Methodist by profession, she attended services in Bingham Canyon, Midvale and Christ Methodist in Salt Lake. She was close to her Savior.
Gladys was always fun loving and was active in bowling and golf throughout her life with many trophies to her name. She and her husband were charter members of Willow Creek Golf & Country Club where she spent many happy days with on the golf course as well as in bowling leagues. She was active in Girl Scouts serving in leadership positions over many years. She loved to play cards and played in many bridge clubs with close friends. In her latter years, Rummikub was her passion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Thelma Wright Hodde; sister-in-law, Gladys Graham Cartmell; daughter, Mary Lee Graham; and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Leskow Graham. She is survived by her son, Dr. Charles James Graham (Diane) of Hyrum, UT; daughter, Peggy Ann Graham White (Gary) of Lubbock, TX; and Robert Vinson Graham (Sheila) of Cheney, WA; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Services will be at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, Wednesday, February 28 at 1 p.m. with a viewing one hour prior, under the direction and guidance of Rev. James Herod of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Hyrum, Utah.
Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City, by her beloved husband and infant daughter.
