Daily Democrat, Clinton MO, Jun 9 2005 - Naomi Marie Gragg Getz, daughter of Nobal and Katie Bouse Gragg, was born June 13, 1907, near Montrose. On Friday, May 13, 2005, after gracing this world with the unique gifts of her personality and abilities for 97 years, she quietly departed this life and went home to God. She received her elementary education at Cleveland and Camp Branch schools and graduated from Montrose High School as valedictorian of her class in 1925. Being blessed with Christian parents, she received Jesus Christ into her life at a young age and was a member of the Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church the rest of her life. Naomi was an active member of the Hopewell Missionary Auxiliary and was honored as a Perpetual Member and a Golden Patron Member in recognition of over 50 years of faithful service to the Cumberland Presbyterian Mission Program. On April 5, 1940, Naomi married John Getz. They made their home in the Piper community, until moving to Clinton in 1955. There they shared a duplex with Naomi's parents until John's death in October 1956. Naomi continued to care for her parents. Naomi became known as "the excellent alteration lady" at McCune's Clothing Store and there made many friends. Her love of sewing included crocheting and quilting. She was a member of the Happy Hour Quilting Cub and the Better Home Improvement Club. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; a brother Lawrence Gragg, and a niece, Carol Jean. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Albert Getz of Creighton; two nephews, Lawrence Burton Gragg of Florida and R. J. Gragg of Colorado, as well as several great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, Tuesday, May 17. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery, Montrose. (obit from Henry Co. website, used with permission.)
