Son of Homer H. Grafton who resided in Rochester, New York.

Robert served as a Second Lieutenant & Pilot on B-17F #42-30131, Headquarters Squadron, 1st Squadron, Combat Crew Replacement Center Group, U.S. Army during World War II.

He either resided in Monroe County, New York or entered the service from there.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 26, 1942. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the production of petroleum and also as Single, without dependents.

B-17F #42-30131 left AAF Station 112, England on a weather recon. flight and failed to return to base.

Robert was declared "Missing In Action" during the war.

He was awarded an Air Medal and a Purple Heart.

This record is a cenotaph since his remain were never recovered.
